Who are we?

True Peace Toronto is a group of mindfulness practitioners who meet to practice and learn mindfulness together. Our practice is based on the Zen Buddhist teachings of the Vietnamese monk Thich Nhat Hanh. We come from a variety of backgrounds and religious traditions.


Mindfulness is the energy of being aware and awake to the present moment. It is the continuous practice of touching life deeply in every moment of daily life. To be mindful is to be truly alive, present and at one with those around you and with what you are doing.


In practicing together as a Sangha, as a community, our practice of mindfulness becomes more joyful, relaxed and steady. We are bells of mindfulness for each other, supporting and reminding each other along the path of practice. With the support of the community, we can practice to cultivate peace and joy within and around us, as a gift for all of those we love and care for. We can cultivate our solidity and freedom - solid in our deepest aspiration and free from our fears, misunderstandings and our suffering.

Where and When do we meet?


We meet Mondays from 5:30 - 7:30 PM at the Multi-faith Centre at the University of Toronto. Click here for information about our meditation sessions. Click here for directions. We meet all year, except for days when U of T is closed (holidays and university breaks).

  • There will be no meditation session on Monday August 7, 2017 as it is a holiday.


We also meet Fridays from 6:45 - 8:45 PM at the Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre at Bloor and Spadina. Click here for information about our meditation sessions. Click here for directions. We meet all year, except for days when the Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre is closed.

US Tour: Together We Are One


5-day retreat August 23-27, 2017

Blue Cliff Monastery, Pine Bush, New York




Every two years, Blue Cliff Monastery hosts this very special event established by our teacher, Thay Thich Nhat Hanh. As in the previous tour, Thay will not be able to attend due to health limitations. However, his spirit is very much a part of this retreat and is embodied in the Sangha of 60 monastics from Plum Village, Blue Cliff, Magnolia Grove, and Deer Park Monasteries who will come together for the Tour.

Mindfulness Challenge 2017

True Peace is delighted to be a Community Partner in Mindfulness Challenge 2017, a "meditate-athon" to raise funds to bring mindfulness to marginalized people.

It's a 4-hour meditation extravaganza, from sitting, to yoga, to mindful lunch, to total relaxation, to mindful movement and music meditation. The theme this year is Kindness.
